Great Grey Owl Flight – Wings Open Against a Winter Sky

A great grey owl comes straight at the viewer, wings spread full width, talons dropping into position. Barred grey and umber feathers catch light from a bloom of teal and violet behind it, while snow drifts across a stand of dark pines. The eyes are two points of gold in a face of concentric rings. It's painted with the softness of oil and the drama of night sky work, cold blues pushed almost to black at the edges.
